Peanut Butter Reese Pieces Blondie Brownie Bar


Nope, your eyes do not deceive you, it is FINALLY a food post! WOOHOO!

I was driving to work last week listening to 94.9fm Cincinnati and the DJ Karen was talking about these brownies and the other DJs were raving about them too. Karen mentioned she got the recipe from a food blogger friend and would post the recipe on the stations website.  So I looked at their website for days and well, no recipe so I started searching for the food blogging friend.

All I could remember was the brownie and the blogger's name started with a C. Finally, I stumbled upon her site Chocolate Moosey, by Carla Cardello. I was so excited. Sunday we had a little Memorial Day cookout and I decided to make these myself to see what all the fuss was about.

Reese’s Pieces Chocolate Peanut Butter Blondies

Serves: 16 blondies

Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup Reese’s Pieces candy
  • 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease or line an 8×8 pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, peanut butter, and brown sugar until smooth. Whisk in the egg and vanilla until smooth. Gradually whisk in the flour mixture. Fold in 3/4 cup Reese’s Pieces.
  4. Scrape the batter into the pan and bake 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the middle. Let cool completely.
  5. Once cooled completely, melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Spread in a thin layer on top of the blondies. Top with the remaining 1/4 cup Reese’s Pieces. Let the chocolate cool and harden before cutting into squares.

These lived up to all the hype, very sweet and yummy. If I make again my only change may be adding a little peanut butter to the melted chocolate topping on the top of the brownies but they are great as written in the recipe above.
